1. Red

Red  is an emotion. It is the feeling that spreads throughout every inch of your body when you become angry, and what warms your cheeks when you become embarrassed. It’s that feeling that feeling of excitement or energy when you are about to cross the finishing line of a marathon. Red is that sensation  of  your heart pounding when you are close to that person you love, it is the color of the roses you give your wife on valentines day It is what flows through your veins allowing you to wake each morning with a desire to live life. It is what reaches your brain when you try to remember things that you never want to forget. Red is feeling of heat and warmth that you get when you engulf those flames of the fireplace on a cold winter night or the sensation of biting into spicy food that makes your taste buds cringe and your eyes water. Red is that feeling when get when you step outside and the rays of the sun hit upon your body warming you and your senses or the sharp pain that makes you jolt  when you  accidentally come across a hot stove while cooking, or of the iron while ironing clothes. Red is the warmth your body experiences when you devour that cup of cider on chilly autumn afternoon, or of hot chocolate on a cold December night. The color of the juice that runs down your chin while biting into the skin of that delectable cherry, juicy strawberry, or biter tomato, each  fruit different in flavor, but alike in color. Red is so intense like a raging and blazing fire in the middle of an infinite darkness.Red is dangerous but pleasurable and it lives as long as you live.

2. Competition within Society.

This cartoon exemplifies competition within the
Marketing Business

Competition is used extensively in our society, at times, we even compete without being aware of it in our daily life's. Such instances are; when a test is taken during school, we discretely compare our results with each other’s or if someone in the same work field as yourself, receives a raise  or is given a higher position, as human nature,  one strives to become superior and achieve the same results.  Furthermore, competition is present within society in marketing, if there was no competition there would be no variety for the consumer to choose from. This competition is present in companies today such as phone, cable, petroleum, and groceries markets that strive to provide the better prices for their own personal monetary benefits. In addition to this idea, variety is necessary to be able to choose the best priced item based on your needs. The "healthy" kind of competition is within the academic life, were if someone accomplishes an assignment or test in a more excellent manner than yourself, then exerting oneself to exceed those results would be beneficial for yourself as it will improve your intellectual skills. The "unhealthy" kind of competition would be one that is seen in society regarding supremacy of factors that are not essential in this life such as infant beauty pageants, as seen in the show, "Toddlers in Tiara's" that shows girls ages 0 through 10 striving to "out-beauty" each other , and other endeavors that is based on an outside imposed standard, these kind of competition can arrive to a conclusion of harming the mentality of many because of failing to perform as well as some peers on some arbitrary scale of performance. Lastly, competition can have both a positive and negative affect in society, it depends in the manner in which it is utilized and what purpose it tries to convey.
This shows the "unhealthy" type of competition, condeming  a young
girl to these extensive matters for a beauty pageant

3. Social Skills !

An ability I have learned in school and integrated into my lifestyle are the social skills that are present during an Academic life. This skill has  facilitated my  interaction and communication with others without being an apprehensive person, and allowed me to out stand in any social situation I have encountered. Applying this skill into my non-academic life has had numerous benefits for myself; it has allowed to gain both personal and social relationships and  work well with groups, and empathize with others, also, it  has enabled me establish Communication Skills that are essential when dealing with Acquaintances because, being able to convey one's thoughts and ideas maybe the single most important skill in a social life. Furthermore, perhaps the largest accomplishment I have acquired from this skill learned in school has been my first job. During a job interview, social skills are essential to demonstrate your employer that you possess the ability to treat people in positive matter, besides, Most organizations are looking for individuals with a particular, tactical, skill set and the ability to influence people to get things done. Continually, most worthwhile jobs have a people component and the most lucrative positions often involve a large amount of time spent interacting with employees, media, colleagues, etc.  It's a rare individual who can isolate himself in his office and still excel in his or her job. Therefore, this social skill that I have learned in my academic life has allowed me to excel in my non-academic life and  I plan to integrate them into my future career.

4. The Progressive Era: The Great Age of Reform.

This depicts a New York city street during the Progressive Era

A Women's Trade Union league Strike
The Wright Brothers with the First Plane in the U.S
If I had the ability to return back in time, I would return back during the Progressive Era in the United States in the years of  where social activism and political reform flourished in order to have first person experience of the magnificent developing that this country underwent during this time period. During this era, people underwent abominable working conditions in factories and began to establish labor unions in order to resolve jurisdictional disputes, and created citywide coalitions that helped coordinate strikes in order to improve the state of being of workers. I would have praised being during this time in order to be part of the reform that occurred by these labor unions, for the reason that standing up for the beliefs that are of my concern is a major part of my values and this experience would have exemplified the trait that relies withing me. Also, I would have cherished these moments in history because amid these years, many technological advancements  were present, visualize  viewing the first airplane being flown by the wright brothers, or being able to ride the first automobiles created by Henry Ford, it would have been a great honor to be in such occurrences. Also, during this time, I would have had the ability to view business grow with the use of marketing factions such as horizontal and vertical integration or monopolies that laid the foundation of the corporate world we have today acquiring knowledge of the reasons why such Businesses use these methods. Furthermore, this era in history depicted the growth in women's power in items such as  world peace, good government, and local support for education and public health, women voted  and operated quietly and effectively. It would have been daunting to view the process of evolution that shape the women  present in America today. Lastly, being present in the progressive era would enable me to see the growth of urbanization and cities in the U.S and growth of, major cities such as New York and Chicago, including its skyscrapers, streets and bridges.  Lastly, having the ability to contemplate this era in the history of with its numeours reforms and advancements, would have allowed me to see the progression of the  contemporary United States.

5. Hunger and undernourishment in developing countries.

This are the horrid images of truth of what many people in developing countries suffer from.

I would donate $1 million dollars to the people suffering of hunger in developing countries. According to the latest Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) statistics, there are 925 million hungry people in the world and 98 percent of them are in developing countries, There is enough food available to feed the entire global population of 7 billion people. And yet, one in nearly seven people is going hungry. In my opinion, hunger is an intolerable feeling that when it is constant is like the people in developing countries undergo , it is an equivalent to suffering, one that misses a meal feels weak  and deprived of energy, imagine those that pass days, even weeks without any nourishment, the reason is that the body responds to the lack of energy  supplied by food by slowing down its physical and mental activities. In addition, a person that is hungry cannot concentrate their minds, a hungry body does not take initiative, a hungry child loses all desire to play and study. Furthermore, malnutrition weakens the immune system making even common disease such as measles and diarrhea deadly. Today, almost one person in six does not get enough food to be healthy and lead an active life, making hunger and malnutrition the number one risk to health worldwide. This is a very serious subject that many are aware of, but do not take any initiative resolve this issue especially when food is wasted, not contributing to the cause in any matter. The one million dollars donated would help fund project that would supply clean water and food packed with nutrition to those families in need ,also, it would assist farmers that lose their crops due to floods, tropical storms and long periods of drought  that cause calamities and consequently affect food security by providing more food to them and their shortage of supplies. These actions filled with ambition, will relief those with a deficiency in food and ameliorate their state of being .
This video exemplifies the what children undergo when they undergo undernourishment in developing countries

6. Immigration

The immigration march I participated in San Diego in April 9, 2007

An issue that has been of concern to my family and I for quite some time has been the controversy over immigration. This issue of amnesty for illegal aliens of other countries has distinct opinions over its subject, some state that immigrants should be allowed to cross over to our country and pursue the "American Dream", while others argue that all immigrants are a bad image for this nation and arrive here to do bad deeds and take the jobs of other United States citizens. However, I support the argument of allowing amnesty to those who come to this nation to provide an ameliorated life for themselves and their families for the reason that I have family that undergo this situation and I see the struggle they put upon themselves and how much better their life's would be if they had the convenience to begin a new life in this country that is considered a land of opportunities. A way that I have supported this cause would be by participating alongside my family in  a completely peaceful march that support the enforcement of an amnesty law in order to benefit immigrants in search of a better life, this march consisted of thousands of other people with the same beliefs as us and being in it made me feel powerful beyond any matter, proving to me that if you stand up for the beliefs you possess, then it can make an impact within your community. This experince has taught me that you should strive to accomplish the beliefs that you have regardless what others may counter-argue shaping me to become a better person.

7. The Internet in a primitive country.

To a  primitive country, I would introduce the concept of the internet, as it is a magnificent force that shapes various aspects of the world, becoming more and more dependent on it as each day goes by. In primitive country, the internet would speed up the spread of news and and facilitate the way in which it is received. In various websites, international news is updated automatically as it occurs in headlines that appear as soon as you click on the page, therefore providing a simpler and innovative way to acquire news for those lacking a proper system of revelation of information . In addition, another quality that the internet provides is a way that people can have a voice in their country and express the circumstances that they have a concern for and convey their thoughts and opinions without any barriers of any sort. Following this further,, there is plenty of websites that allow one to research their interests and beliefs and find others that support the same thoughts and have the ability to create a powerful alliance in order to make a statement of change. Moreover, what the internet is known for the most is for the vast amount of information that rely within it, and the attainability to research any subject and find information that is relevant to it, this is very helpful to a primitive country. Also, the internet provides many benefits to a primitive country both economically and educationally, as a job can be done straight from a computer device and an education can be attained form the internet as well, this would be very helpful to those who have certain disabilities that prohibitive them form leaving their home. Finally, the internet would definitively  ameliorate a primitive country and enable it to the many advantages of the world  wide web.

8. A Kind ♥.

Kindness is the language which the deaf can hear and the blind can see.- Mark Twain

Kindess is an international word, it provides the same same meaning in every language and religion regardless of the circumstances. A kind person is one of warm-hearted nature, that shows sympathy and is considerate of the humane necessities of society. In appliance to my life style, this quote could be utilized to describe me as a person for the reason being that I enjoy helping people, and cannot stand the unjust treatment of others. I always strive to help others in any manner that I possibly can because in a time of need, everyone appreciates a kind person to make a difference in their life. Wether it be by  helping out by just a simple task, many see you as a kind person because  the need of others has an emphasis on your life and helping is a matter if importance to yourself. Furthermore, when people treat others in an unjust way, it creates a deep sentiment in me and exemplifies the traits of kindness that rely withing myself. This sentiment arose from my younger years when being bullied was a daily part of my life and a person with a kind heart that would have provided the time to defend me , would have indeed made a difference in my life. If I ever happen to see someone being badgered, I do not mind stepping in and defend that person because nobody possesses the right to belittle anyone regardless of the circumstances. For these reasons, kindness is an accurate word that shapes me as a person and displays the values that rely withing me.

9.National Giving Awareness Day

In helping others, we shall help ourselves, for whatever good we give out completes the circle and comes back to us-
Flora Edwards
A holiday that I would establish would be one that is similar to what we know here in the United States as Christmas, although it is the same idea, it portrays a complete separate concept. Typically, Christmas is seen as a national holiday that consists of an enormous mass of gift purchases and render them to family members however, in those times people do not consider the people that do not possess the opportunity to celebrate such holiday and receive gifts as other people do this day. In addition, this national holiday would be named "national giving awareness day" and help assist those in need by donating items of clothing, food, and of personal use, it would be celebrated such as Christmas by purchasing gifts but instead  of gorging unnecessary items of personal luxury, it would relief people that are deficient in items that most of us would consider ordinary everyday utilities. How extraordinary would it be  at least for an entire day that families would share a moment of content, without having feelings of despair during these festive dates for being unable to acquire items of such indulgence. Many of us do not express much gratitude for the items that we have the availability to possess  however this day would allow us to think about those in need and aid them pursue a better and more plentiful life.

10. Procrastination.

Procrastination leads Nowhere,

It is best advice I have ever received. It is a fundamental rule regardless of the circumstances, when duties are left to the last moment possible, it makes it terribly difficult for the person attempting to complete the items and impedes them from doings thing efficiently and at their best potential from all the pressure that they undergo.  If tasks are habitually put off, it creates a lifelong habit that will hurt the person in the future. Some of the causes of  procrastination are  time  are poor management skills and perfectionism. At most time when a person states, " I don't have enough time" the cause is simply a lack of time management skills. Additionally, it is It is a fact that everyone has 24 hours during a day and it is just a matter of managing those hours in order to accommodate all the priorities, goals, and objectives that need to be completed. Evidently, everyone is guilty of procrastination at some point during their life's whether it be scholarly or in a job field, it is simply a matter of  self discipline  of overcoming those obstacles of  replacing high-priority actions with tasks of low-priority and moving forward. As for me, I have numerous desires and goals that I want to full fill  and my desire to achieve this kind of success in life is greater than that of procrastination.

Old man procrastination stands within the shadow of every human being, waiting his opportunity to spoil one’s chances of success.”  Napolean Hill

11. Do teacher fulfill their jobs?

A question that I believe has  a significant amount of importance but is negated by universities during application process is  the status and  quality of the education received and the spectrum of effectiveness of teachers during high school years and it goes as followed:

Did the school teacher successfully apply the necessary academic values in order to prepare the student for a college level education?

In my opinion, it of great significance to take into consideration the learning environment that surrounded the student amid preparatory years  in order to grasp a better comprehension of they type of student he or she is . The effort a teacher makes mirrors the success a student reaches during that significant class, it is of highly likelihood  if a teacher does not apply the necessary factors to provide a beneficial course, the student does not receive the entire learning experience to its full potential therefore degrading the important aspects of the class. Furthermore, from personal experience, not all high school teachers provide a rigorous course that students can rely in, In very unfortunate cases, a teacher just simply assigns classwork to the students and do not cover the material beforehand, this is not just in regular level classes, but also in those labeled "AP" or advanced placement. Although  type of education allows a student to become more independent of his o her studies  nonetheless, in the meantime it  consequently  affects the student by providing a frivolous education and impedes students to reach full academic potential by not being able to receive the complete knowledge of the class.

12. Movie of my Life.

The movie opens with a scene of  a man pushing his wife out of the hospital in a wheelchair carrying her newly born daughter in her arms. The mans face is exploding with joy ,enduring every aspect of the moment of carrying his wife out in pride. The woman embraces the baby girl in her arms caressing her delicate hair with a look of adoration in her eyes. In the next scene, the entire family gathers to welcome and meet the newest member cherishing the delightful features of the innocents infant. Furthermore, the following scenes are  rapid video clips of the most important chapters of a child's life as she grows up; first steps, words, tooth fairy, and clips of the holidays spent together as a family along side her older brother of 7 years. Out of all these scenes, what stands out numerously is the smile on the child's face and the joy she possesses spending time with her family as a whole and cherishes the time she passes with her parents. To her, all is perfect, there is nothing that can ever separate each other from the love bond they share, however, she was wrong. The following scene depicts her father kissing her on the forehead goodbye while asleep on her bed, as it was the day he left the home and everything he had brought up to that day. This is were the story begins of the struggle of a young girl to cope and move on in life without her father by her side,  it was all she had ever known up until that day that changed her life forever.

13. Roommate !

Dear Natalia,

Hello! my name is Alice Sebold and I am sure that by now you are well aware that we are on the brink of becoming future roomates. This is a very exciting moment for the both of us as college is an important chapter in ones life, and what will the memories be without the remembrance  of a roommate!  A bit about myself is that I was born in Los Angeles,California however raised in the county of San Diego . Both my parents and entire family are from Mexico therefore my customs are from the beautiful country that my roots rely in.  Furthermore,  some of my favorite leisure activities are spending time with loved ones and friends, going out in the city ,  surfing the web, and watching movies. In addition, I chose to attend San Diego State University to remain in my home town near my families and friends for I dread the thought of being away from them, that is just not the kind of experience I seek. The major that I have in mind as of this time is to become a Social worker for the reason being that I enjoy helping others in their needs and cannot stand the unjust treatment of anyone. Lastly, I am sure that with both our cooperation , our stay at SDSU will be a pleasant one to be remembered, I hope to meet each other soon !

                                                                                                                                            Sincerely,
                                                                                                                                            Alice Sebold

14. Wealth is Overwhelming.

"He does not posses wealth, it possesses him" -Benjamin Franklin
-I find it very ironic that the author of this quote is Benjamin Franklin, however he is present on the $100 dollar bill, is there an explanation for this?

This very powerful quote by Benjamin Franklin  expresses the fine line between a person  values and his or her love for money. What it conveys is that when a person does possess wealth  money is what shapes his or her as a person and affects the decisions that they choose to make wether or not it is customary to their surroundings. Their actions revolve around money and how much of it is in their possesion, constantly comparing themselves to others in monetary matter and belittle anyone who does not exhibit such qualities.Furthermore, money carries them on in a daily basis becoming their main motivation in life regardless of the consequences that follow such greed. They become so blinded with the thoughts of money that it is no longer in  their knowledge that money may be temporary and can be lost withing any given moment without a warning. Adittionally, their dependence is strong in such a magnitude that if indeed the money is lost, they will not know how to live without it. Lastly, a person that has elements such as those that this quote expresses, their world is controlled by money, and shapes their lifestyle and prefer it over anything else.

In this song, a singer chooses the reality of money over the sentiment of love therefore exemplifying the quote above.

15.Study Hall

An  important contribution that would be made to a college campus would be the use of a study hall that is open twenty-four hours of the day and 7 days a week. This facility would be greatly beneficial to many of the students that attend the campus, as it will provide a quiet and studious environment for those in need of one. It is very common  for a college student to have a roomate that they share their living facilities with, it s necessary to have a quiet solidary place to study in , however with a roomate ,at times that place might be difficult to find. On the contrary, providing a study hall that is open continually throughout the year will accomodate those in need of a location to reside in during study hours. It will greatly improve test scores as students will be confident that they will always have a place that they can rely in in their education.

16.Parlez-vous Francais?

A decision and soon to be concluded achievement I have made was to study the French language for three consecutive years. This past three years have not been easy in any matter whatsoever, it can be easily said that this class has been the most difficult challenge throughout my high school journey.  Furthermore, what made this class especially irksome was a non-cooperating professor whose idea of teaching was to utilize patronizing tone that made it difficult to even pose a question without being made feel as if there was no knowledge in the tiniest corner of your brain. Despite the unfortunate choice of teacher I had to undergo, this course has taught me that it is best to focus on your studies and disregard the conflicting issues of the professor by not allowing them to affect you in any way. Ultimately, this method proves leadership skills and the capability of being successful in your studies regardless of the obstacles you may face. Moreover, the course was a conjecture of numerous assignments that ranged from vocabulary exams to oral presentations both rehearsed and on-demand. In my opinion the verbal assignments were definitively the most challenging tasks I was yet to face; speaking in a complete foreign language is very intimidating. This complex process involves putting together numerous new vocabularies, grammatical faction, and an endless conjugation of verbs to create the language known as le français, with my growth of pride in this class, I was able to successfully complete approximately 30 presentations. Also, there was to learn the history of France and know each distinct region that makes up the country although there was not much difficulty attached to this. In spite of all the difficulties I had to face, this class has allowed me to expand both my social and communicate skills which are with no doubt necessary to reach Success in the business world.

17.The "ideal" woman.

In my personal opinion it is very much under my concern that the "ideal" form of beauty is portrayed  within every single corner of this mass media filled generation. It is rather disturbing that in every magazine and/or ad an idea of a “perfect” women is depicted; very tall, thin, flawless skin, and a perfect smile, a woman who would meet the criteria for anorexia as 15% below normal weight, however, in reality, this unhealthy body shape is unattainable for 99% of women. Even so, many times these beautiful women, are not considered attractive enough for advertisements, therefore, photographs are airbrushed and altered to remove any sort of imperfection a normal woman might have, in other words, anything less than "perfection". This ideal form of beauty is physically unattainable, and is the reason for one of the largest and most profitable consumer industries, that of  weight-loss, fashion, and cosmetics. The anxiety girls and women experience from feeling unattractive is arguably one of the most pervasive and damaging consequence of advertising. This dissatisfaction is a major cause for eating disorders which according to Eating Disorders Recovery Online, 10-15% of Americans suffer from a serious eating disorder. Another very degenerating fact from The Harvard Eating Disorders Center, is that 80% of women wake up each morning feeling depressed about their appearance. This is truly disappointing to hear, this is why women feel the need to alter their bodies through surgeries and or other physical procedure in order  to meet these unrealistic features

18.Tardiness.

The High School campus I reside in has both positive and negative aspects in it, and as a student, it is my duty to be concerned and posses the desire to implement change to the negative aspects in order to better accommodate the people attending the school. One of these changes to my best knowing are, the strict policy on tardiness, especially regarding the ones to the first period of the school day. At times, it is beyond our control the occurrings that cause one to be late, for example; the amount of traffic, weather, or construction, etc any obstacle that restrict our ability to arrive on time. Also, seeming to be unknown and out of the range of concern to the school  is that some students are unable to arrive in the timely matter for the fact that they have other siblings that need to be transported to school  as well, therefore making it more challenging for the parent or guardian providing the ride to be tied down to punctuality. In addition, it should be changed the fact that it is unjust for the citizenship grade to be changed to an "F" just because of tardies if you have an exceptional grade in the class, on the contrary, having a good grade exemplifies that despite the belatedness, you are capable of keeping track of  classwork and assignments and sustain the material of the class. I find no fault in arriving late as long as it is a few minutes late as opposed to entire classes which  indeed would be considered disparaging to the students education

19.Education is Essential.

As a 16 year old, and enrolled in school, I believe school should be mandatory.  Learning is essential to life, it is the mode to development and  in order to grow as a person, education should be prioritized and seen as a necessity, not as an option. Having an education gives an individual various choices on what they would like to pursue as a career and further allows one to explore his or her interests and talents in a field of work. If our country did not mandate receiving an education, I believe that this nation would undergo serious chaos. There would be no doctors to heal the ill, there would be no architects  to construct homes to shelter us , there would be no lawyers or politics to provide justice  for our nation, therefore, the United States would just be in complete disarrangement .Besides the intellectual aspects, receiving  an education shapes a person ability to become a sociable and amiable person by interacting with others in a positive environment and enables one to share ideas and beliefs in order to build the strategy of argument to be able to express themselves in a non violent way. Therefore, Education must be mandatory for the benefit of the entire nation.

20.Talking to a Tigress

The animal that I would chose to communicate with would be a Tigress because there is not very many of them left residing on earth . I would question her about the feelings that she gets to be seen as  such a fierce and defiant animal and be feared by many. Does she feel as if it is her duty to protect her family from danger, and protect her habitat from others? Does she let others intervene between her and her affairs? Or does she even let any other animals enter the place she resides in? Does she posses the ability to communicate and speak to animals of other species and understand them? Is she conscious of the fear she induces in many if she comes to close proximity of them? Or does she feel the necessity to be feared in order to survive ? I find this animal to be substantially interesting to communicate with  for the reason that it is a very powerful animal, and it most definitely not a common thing to speak to an animal of this classification and unveil her thoughts.

Alice Sebold

Alice Sebold was born on September 6, 1963 in Madison, Wisconsin and grew up in the Suburbs of Philadelphia. She published the bestselling novel, The Lovely Bones in 2002 in which she states, "I was motivated to write about violence because I believe it's not unusual. I see it as just a part of life, and I think we get in trouble when we separate people who've experienced it from those who haven't. Though it's a horrible experience, it's not as if violence hasn't affected many of us."
